The Northern Metropolis (NM) is being developed for the future. The Northern Metropolis Co-ordination Office (NMCO) has been actively promoting public engagement through various channels to enhance public understanding of the planning and latest developments of the NM:
Establishment of Exhibition Centres
To facilitate investment promotion and enhance public understanding and support for the NM, the Government has set up satellite exhibition centres in four New Development Areas(NDAs): Kwu Tung North(KTN), Fanling North(FLN), Hung Shui Kiu/Ha Tsuen(HSK/HT), and the Loop. These centres allow the public and visitors from all over the world to gain a more tangible understanding of the NM’s development potential. In recent years, a dedicated NM exhibition area has also been established at the City Gallery in Central to further raise public awareness.
HSK/HT NDA exhibition centres, FLN exhibition centres and City Gallery are open to the public free of charge. Please visit the following websites for further details:

School Outreach Programme
Since the 2023/24 academic year, NMCO has been visiting secondary schools, reaching students to introduce the latest developments of the NM. Topics include smart, green and resilient (SGR) city strategies, and related infrastructure development. We have also collaborated with the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education under Vocational Training Council, the Hong Kong Institute of Construction, and public libraries, to engage more young people in the development of the NM.

Promoting Corporate Participation and Industry Exchange
The Development Bureau is committed to encouraging local, Mainland, and overseas enterprises to support and take part in participate in the development of the NM. We have organised corporate engagement events, including those on "Large-scale Land Disposal Approach," Tsim Bei Tsui and Pak Nai Eco-tourism projects, and pre-tender briefings for the Hung Shui Kiu Pilot Area, to keep stakeholders informed of the latest project developments. Furthermore, we maintain regular dialogue with chambers of commerce and industry representatives to proactively introduce emerging business opportunities and policy support, working together to drive the development of the NM forward.
Promoting to The World
The NMCO has been dedicated to promoting and introducing the latest developments of NM to the Mainland and international community. In addition to maintaining close ties with organisations from different regions, the NMCO has participated in various large-scale exhibitions, including the Belt and Road Summit, the Asian Financial Forum, and the Learning & Teaching Expo, to showcase the latest developments, detailed planning, and infrastructure of the NM to participants from around the world.
Public Engagement on Development Proposals
We have conducted public consultation and engagement activities for various New Development Areas. These efforts include producing videos, publishing booklets, setting up dedicated websites, organising briefings for stakeholders, and hosting roving exhibitions across Hong Kong, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen.
Organising NM-Themed Events
NMCO has organised events such as the "NM Estate Naming Competition" and the "NM Photo and Short Video Competition," both of which received enthusiastic responses. The winning names, "Fung Wong Leng Estate" and "Kwu Chun Estate," have been adopted as the official names of the respective housing estates.
The NMCO has also collaborated with the Geospatial Lab under the Development Bureau, the Planning Department, and the Civil Engineering and Development Department to organise NM-themed activities.
Strengthening Collaboration with Organisations
We support organisations in hosting NM-related design competitions and guided tours, and collaborate with over 400 Care Teams across all 18 districts to promote NM development through community activities.
